A boring life

As I read through these entries I'm struck with just how boring I am. Am I really? Actually, I'm holding back on these blog entries because I have no idea what or how to write on good blog. I really want to talk about politics and current events but there are so many of these out there already. Some of them are really good too. Some of them are really bad though. I'm not going to add to them. I guess I lead a pretty uneventful life. My heart is torn though with thoughts of so many people across this world who lead ugly brutal lives. They would sacrifice anything for a boring life.

You see, it's like this...

My sister asked me after a recent blog entry, "What's up with you Christians and Evolution anyway? What, God can't do Evolution if he wants to?" (I paraphrased) I don't know. I have talked to all kinds of Christians about this and there are many, many different viewpoints. I'd have to say that most folks that I know are not "bothered" by evolution. That means they don't think about it much or it doesn't collide with their faith or something along those lines. However, I do tend to hang with a few fundamentalists here and there and run across my fair share of Darwin as the Devil stuff. As I stated in an earlier blog entry, I think that I've been prepared to talk to people about this subject. So many times I don't actually offer an opinion of my own. One Cool Cat Checks Out

Maynard Ferguson died Thursday night at the age of 78. I’ve read several good obituaries tonight and I encourage anyone to read them. ( Here’s a list. ) I’m just going to tell you my story of Maynard and me. The year was 1972; I was in 8th grade at Woodward Elementary and I had been playing trumpet for about a year. In those days it was predetermined that you would go off to Cleveland High School which was a mile up the road. That’s what my dad did, that’s what I’d do. Well, during this era up at Cleveland there was a band director named Ed Levinski and he had developed a group of young trumpet players that were simply fantastic. (Many of them went on to become pros.) Well, our family was friends with the family of one of the guys and one night my dad said we’re going up to see a show at Cleveland.
